We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news with our clients and followers. A project that Quality First Decorators Ltd had the privilege of working on has officially been named a Category Winner at the prestigious 2023 Sussex Heritage Trust Awards.

The Charlton Court Farmhouse Rejuvenation and Extensions project, located in Steyning, proudly took home the 2023 Small Scale Residential Award. This specific award category celebrates the exceptional restoration, conversion or new build of single residential units.

The project itself was a remarkable architectural undertaking. The core brief was to carefully restore, reorder and extend a sprawling Grade II listed farmhouse and its outbuildings, which are all situated within the boundary of a beautiful Grade II barn. The main house was reoriented to include a substantial modern kitchen and family room that was constructed using traditional materials to maintain the historic feel of the property. Furthermore, the original farm building was expertly converted into an independent cottage alongside a highly detailed gym and pool area.

As the chosen decorators for this incredible rejuvenation, Quality First Decorators Ltd is immensely proud of the finishing touches we brought to the property. It is always a distinct honour to work on historic homes and help breathe new life into them while completely respecting their original heritage.

The award entry was submitted by The Martin Sewell Building Company Ltd, who served as the main contractors alongside PHB Contractors Ltd. We also want to congratulate the architect, Phil Reid of Miller + Howard Workshop, and the dedicated site manager, Leon Proudley, for their fantastic vision and execution.

Winning a Sussex Heritage Trust Award is a testament to the hard work, high quality craftsmanship and collaboration of everyone involved. We are delighted to have our decorating work featured in such an esteemed and celebrated local property.
